Toxicity study of SaliraVira®

To evaluate the toxic effects of SaliraVira®, 20 C57BL/6 inbred mice were studied for acute and chronic prescriptions. During treatment, weight, mortality, any abnormal behavior, anorexia, drowsiness, inactivity, decreased response to physical stimuli were studied.
Results of hematological and pathology studies of SaliraVira® did not show any significant differences between control and treatment groups in acute and chronic trials. The results of studies show that SaliraVira® is safe.

In vivo bone marrow assay of SaliraVira®

To evaluate the clastogenic effects of SaliraVira®, femurs dissected from the mice from both control and treatment groups. In order to study the cytotoxic effects of SaliraVira® on the proliferation of the bone marrow cells, the ratio of PCE/ NCE) was calculated.
Results indicate that the frequency of micronuclei induced by treatment of acute dose of SaliraVira® is nearly similar to control group.

Physico-chemical studies

Based on USP-40, the microbial tests of the extract of SaliraVira® indicate, the numbers of all bacteria are zero and the amount of yeast in extract is less than 10.
